Nature Study is our time to learn about God and His amazing creation. During this time, we love to really settle in and study all the beautiful things that surround us. This time is not just important for us. It is essential to what we do and who we are. I know and I see this every time Ava and Sophie jump for joy as we meet a new evergreen tree along our path. I know this and I see this every time Ethan and Audrey stop to carefully draw every detail of these very same evergreen trees.
We are learning and growing in the knowledge of God and of this beautiful world that He created. We are amazed. We wonder. We look closely. We attend to the details. In these photographs Audrey brought her nature journal and a few pine cones and pine tree boughs inside to learn more after a nature walk. She pours over our field guides. She notices the details of how many needles are in a bundle. She measures the needles. All of this is done in order to identify exactly which type of pine tree we saw. Is it a Virginia Pine or a Pitch Pine? Audrey is determined to figure it out.
